Kāpiti Coast District Council mana whenua representation

The Kāpiti Coast District Council has provided for iwi representation within the Council’s governance structure with the three Kāpiti Coast District mana whenua iwi – Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki and Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai Charitable Trust – being appointed to some of its committees and subcommittes. The Council has appointed one representative from each of its three iwi mana whenua partners to the Council’s Strategy and Operations and Finance Committee, the Social Sustainability Subcommittee, the Climate and Environment Committee and the Grants Allocation Committee, with full voting rights. The Council has also provided a seat at all Council meetings to representatives from the three iwi, with speaking rights only (in line with the LGA).
